Roof Antenna Compatibility

I need to replace the shark fin on my 2006 RL. Don't ask...suffice it to say that it was Darwin-award material. So I prefer the lower (flat) profile of the TL antennas, but wonder if they are compatible. The plug looks to be the same. I don't care about OnStar. Does anyone know if these units are plug-and-play compatible for radio and XM? Thanks!

great question, it should work as the fin is only for onstar, there is speculation that it could house a secondary XM antenna for rural areas.

So for most of us its only for looks anyway.
