RLs have 3rd best navigation
Hey guys I was reading today on caranddriver.com and I thought I would share this with you guys. You guys came in 3rd (TSX came in 2nd) for best navigations in cars. I have never used either navi but if i know acura I bet its nice and I think the TSX and RL are both great cars for there own reasons so im glad they got this great a ranking. anyway here is the link

The trouble with this, of course, is that the customers rating these nav systems have not - for the most part - used many other nav systems, if any at all.
Furthermore, a sophisticated owner, such as you'd find in a luxury car segment (as opposed to a mid-size near-lux car like the Zephyr) EXPECTS more, and is therefore not as easily impressed. The more demanding buyer might therefore not give as high a score to his system as would a less-sophisticated buyer.
I have personally owned Infiniti, Lexus and Acura Nav's (2 Acura models), as well as Garmin aftermarket Nav, and I can tell you the Acura system is more intuitve, more logical and just plain easier to use than the others I've owned. It autocompletes entries faster than others I've used, it calculates routes faster, it offers choices instead of makng you enter everything perfectly, and it just generally has less-complex menus and processes.
And God love 'em ... you can actually use it while moving! <applause!>

That's the problem with this survey. Unless you have tried every single one, how could you say which one is better. Not everyone has tried the navigation system on the new Acuras. They are by far better than the previous generation Acura navis. Most of the people driving Zephyrs probably have come from Fords and Chevys. I doubt any of those systems are any good so when they move up, they are so impressed. I can't really say that is fact or that I know all the other systems. I have only used Acura's navis all my life. I have no complaints with them so if I was asked for this survey, the RL's or the 07 MDX would be my top picks and they would get 100% satisfaction from me. Lexus may have a much better system (from what I've read they are not) but I would never know will I unless I own one. The same thing can be said of a Lexus owner who never own an Acura navi. It's a case of not knowing what you are missing.
From an Acura standpoint, this is how I would rank the navis...
RL
MDX 07
RDX
TL
TSX

The survey does not rank which navigation system is the "best," it simply ranks customer satisfaction. To be more specific, they surveyed how satisfied new customers were with their navigation systems. It is quite possible that Lincoln Zephyr customers just happen to be easily satisfied.

You would have to be easily satisfied to buy a lincoln Zephyr.

I have owned and used nav systems on the 2001 Acura CL, 2003 Lexus LS430, 2006 Infiniti G35 and 2006 Acura RL. . .The Acura systems are more intuitive and are easier to use. . .even the one in my 2001 CL. The Infiniti system is nice for it's bird's eye view but is difficult to program, while the Lexus system is just difficult to program.
Yeah, maybe the Zephyr folks have low standards. Personally, I tested the nav systems when I tested the cars before getting the RL. I eliminted the BMW 530i, for example, because I found their nav system to be primitive.
Nav Comparison
I have owned 4 vehicles with Nav systems:
2003 Chrysler 300M Special
2004 Honda Odyssey
2006 Mercedes R350
2006 Acura RL
By far, the Acura system is the best, followed by the Honda, with the MB and Chrysler well behind.

I've had '06 BMW M5
'06 Infiniti M
'06 RL
and have driven extensively the '06 Lexus GS300 (had their Gen 4 nav, so I can't comment on the Gen 5), and the Acura's is the best by far.
Infiniti's looks cool, but it's not as useful as Acura's. Lexus and infiniti would be a tie and my M5's nav is not in the same ball park as the others. BMW isn't known for its toys like the Japanese makes.
