RL VS Lexus GS300. RL wins again!
I have tested the Infinit M35 and now I driven the Lexus GS 300 today. I must say I do not know what all the fuss is about Lexus. Sure it is a nice car, but it is not better than the RL. I will say it had a nice luxury ride. However as the the case with the M35, when I stepped on the gas the power delivery was not as smooth and powerful as the RL. I did not know this 300 had all wheel drive until the salesman told me. In the RL, I immediatley knew there was something special going on. I am convinved that honda makes the best engines in the world. When I told the salesman that I was interested in the RL, he said, "OH, you have to move up to our top of the line to compete with the RL:
I turned the radio on, and in no way did it sound as good as the RL. The navi was not even close. I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they designed that system. The 300 to its credit did have a nice steering feel. It has nice touches here and there, but my lady and I both agreed the RL interior was nicer. Again, for 42 something, the RL is the best value going. This week when I pick up the RL I will have a big smile knowing I got the RIGHT one for me

About your comments regarding stereo etc...did the GS have the Mark Levinson system? If not, obviously the RL's system will be superior.
I felt the GS had smoother power delivery though (the 6 speed auto no doubt helps) but the RL is quicker.

RL like TSX = Japanese quality.
RL like TL = Features.
I moved from a TL to the RL and had Acura not offered an RL-caliber car for $42k I would have fled the brand and never returned...

Hell, if Acura hadn't offered an RL with AWD (or anything other than FWD) I would have fled the brand and never returned.

I drove the GS300 AWD and the RL. Agree that the RL drives nicer.
Interior quality was a wash - both in the same league.
Exterior is personal preference but I like the look of the GS, and find the RL to be quite boring. Looks like an Accord rear with an RSX front.
If the RL looked more like an upscale TL I would probably buy one!

Funny, if the RL was a Lexus with the same look, then people would not be complaining. Look at the Lexus ES, for example. It looks like a Camry, but that hasn't damaged sales. In fact, the Lexus RX looks like an SUV version of the RL. I guess that's how bias works.
