you should be able to at least break even, you still got the warranty which is pretty major item in a higher mileage vehicle.

Oh yeah...major when you're selling private. Dealer will rape you regardless.

Here is your 50 hp mod and proof that a S/C does exist on an RL.

Throw in a CAI, exhaust, & lighter wheels, and you will be looking at a sub 6 sec 0-60, sub 14 sec 1/4 mi car. Hell the 2009 runs 14.9 and the '11 runs 14.5.

You should be able to get that easily on a trade in. I would guess you could get closer to $20k. The dealer is going to post it for $24k.

Like 037 mentions, sell it private, and you should be able to pull in $22-23k.

Last August (2010) I traded my '06 w/62XXX in on my '10 RL. I got $17,500 after countering their counter offer. They started @ $14,900. They finally sold the car for $19,500 - buyer called me and had a few questions.

Wow. You still got more than OP owes... so that's good.

an RL is easier to modify?? WTF...

you can add a $500 juicebox ECU to a 135/335/535 and run sub 13 second 1/4 miles... an RL can have every bolt on on the world, spend 2000+ on intake/exhaust and you won't break under 15 seconds... maybe hihg 14s if you were going downhill with a tailwind.. :)

you can't mod anRL to be fast. period. they are nice.. they are quick enough.. but NOT fast.

the 535 is fast stock. with a chip they are flat out screamers. BUT..and this is a big issue... one wil have more problems and they will cost more to fix on a bMW.

tons of people are getting stranded with busted fuel pumps on the turbo BMW motors... I have heard of no one getting stranded with their RL.. at least not any recurring problem that is systemic....

i'll have to test drive a 535i...

AND I need to get a realistic trade in quote for my RL. I have 55k miles on my 06. it also is CPO with the "wrap" until mid 2013. I owe about 16500 on it. any chance I will break even or make a grand or two on it as a trade or will they try to rape me and give me like 10k for it? :)

getting a 535i f10 chipped is not easy, very hard to find a shop that will do it yet. few on fpost and bimmerfest have reported chips with vague proof and information. BMW pretty much has 535i 135i 335i running at their best without going beyond their limit. n54 turbo engine gives about 270whp on 535i, 335i, 135i BMW which is much higher than RL's already. have you ever openned a BMW hood? its so freaking complicated to just change a freaking HID bulb, there is no dipstick for oil change and tranny fluid change is impossible...try adding a supercharger on a 328i. nothing as easy as supercharging TL/RL.
