RL Sales Hold Steady at about 150 per month

The sales per month seems to have stabilized at about 150, May was 151.

MDX is the big sales winner.

I got an email and snail mail yesterday about a lease special.... $539/month, 36 months, $2999 down. Don't know the residuals and such but that's better than RL leases offered in the past. Who knows, maybe it will spur sales? Seems to work for BMW, why not Acura?

Carzy question: 150 times 12 months would be 1800 units in the US. How did I end up with a 2005 with a VIN in 17,XXX. Does that include world-wide sales, and do they start the VIN at number 1?

The 2005 RL sold over projected volumes in the US and in Japan. In 2005 I believe over 26,000 units were sold. It was also Japan's Car of the Year. They mostly sold at sticker. The Saitama plant was on 3 shifts to keep up.

They ramped up production and subsequently overproduced for the 2006 MY. By summer 2006 the 10K sticker discount started to become a reality. Many of us took opportunity with that.

By 2007 the RL sales crashed to earth and have trickled along since then. 2008, 2009, 2010 and likely 2011 were built out by January of the MY. The plant produces other Honda models for the remainder of the year.

I believe these 150ish unit sales are mostly a distribution issue as all MY RLs are already built out and likely rationed to dealerships to keep the model alive, if not forgotten.
