How does one go about removing the trunk tie down points? I'm looking to bolt a lockbox in my trunk and it seems the tie down points might provide pre-drilled, strong holes though which I can slip a mounting bolt.

Any idea just what's under the two raised portions on either side of the spare tire well? Could I drill a shallow whole or two, suitable for slipping a molly bolt in, or would I go straight into the gas tank?
