Rear window defrost question?

Is that "box" area at the top of the rear window and going all the way across supposed to defrost? I just noticed that my rear window defrosts ok except for about 3 inches or so, all the way across the top of the rear window...seems to be an area contained within a "box" (for lack of a better explanation".

I remember seeing a post about this somewhere, but couldn't find it here.

Thanks. Fred

I don't think it defrosts at the very top. I have read that is done because the material holding the glass in (the glue stuff) would become hot and then the glass would come loose. How accurate that is - I don't know. I have only read/heard that once. When I had the TL it was the same thing.

The top portion of the rear windshield is where the FM antenna is printed and there are no defroster lines there. That's why it doesn't defrost like the rest of the windshield.

Thanks y'all for the replies. I don't know why I hadn't noticed this before...probably because there's a place on the old Honda needing a repair, which I've just noticed...
