Got 4 new shocks coming. Read the procedure in service manual- is every step necessary to get rear deck off? Do I really have to beat the c pillar clips off? Or is this a project where the shortcuts if any will be obvious? Was hoping deck would pop off after seat is out...

 

I was under the impression that only the back seat needed to come out.

Here is a great write up on the A-Spec install. It appears you can work around the rear deck. Obviously, it would be easier with it out of the way, but it isn't necessary.

if you can squeeze your hand, like most of us then you wont have to take the deck off.

also, easier way to take c-pillars off is by prying the SRS square.
use cloth/rag and flat head. wrap flat head in cloth so you dont fuck up interior.

pry up under SRS square and the clip will come out without you breaking it.
