Rear seat ashtray

I was doing a semi annual interior complete detailing on my RL over the weekend and noticed that the rear door "ashtrays" did not seem quite right on my car.

Can someone post a photo of one of their "ashtrays".

I think mine are missing an "insert" within the ashtray lid handle!

I didn't think there were any ashtrays in the RL... at any rate, no fumar in my car EVER.

Drinking and shooting up are premissible however.

That is exactly how the ashtray looks in my 06. If you are missing an insert(s), then so am I. But like the professor says, no one smokes in my car.

Unbelieveable! I can't believe that one of my passengers ripped them off!

I know it's not a big deal but there is a empty "hole" in the handle on each side now.

Of course these pieces are probably not sold separately and I'm certainly not going to pay for the whole ashtray assembly for each side.

Hmmm... what can I use to make them from scratch... I'll have to look around the house.

P.S. I agree. NO SMOKING in my cars. Ever!

I'm talking about a portion of the gunmetal colored "handle" on the lid of the ashtray. Mine is missing the black rubber insert from the handles on both sides.

Someone sitting in the back seat of my car has removed them both!

If it was just a glued on piece of rubber then it wouldn't be so much of a problem. However the "handles" have a deep groove as well as multiple holes where the insert fits in. With the rubber pieces missing it just looks bad.

BTW, I don't have any kids. Nor have I ever had any kids in the back seat. Quite frequently, I do drive my colleagues and relatives around town so it must have been one of them... Pisses me off!

I didn't even know that the car had ash trays until reading this thread. Why do we have "Not an Ash Tray" in the front and real Ash Trays in the rear?

See my post above for more info.

looks like the part you are looking for is in the list though - isn't Item 22 the part you need?

Maybe it is...I thought 26 and 46 were the inserts, while 22 and 42 were the tray and lid assembly that the insert fits into...that's the problem with these exploded parts lists...hard to tell what any thing is...

I think he clarified that he is not looking for the inserts, rather a small rubber piece on the top of the lid

Those are also "not an ashtrays", just not labelled as such. With no lighter, who could even fire up a stogie in the back seat of your RL? Perish the thought!

Now I have to check to see if the kids have picked away the rubber as they have been doing on my office chair.

Thanks for giving me one more thing to worry about!!!
