rattle

I bought my RL one month agp. A few days ago I noticed a rattle in the back rear passenger side. I was on a 100 mile trip and just kept my music on so it wouldn't bother me. When a I stopped for gas I lifted the sun shades in the back and it seemed for the rest of the trip the rattle was gone. I left the shades up but this morning on the way to work I have the same rattle. Any ideas??

See a psychiatrist

Really, this would be tough to diagnose with this information, but if it keeps happening you might have better luck with getting a friend to sit in the back seat while you drive and try to pinpoint the noise.

I know the rear window shade rattles...it is CHEAP and sits in its holder (obviously when it is not up) pretty cheaply too. Mine rattles a bit but I am driving and have music on so I never hear it.

I have a rattle that is similar to what you describe. I have had it for about two weeks now. I can't figure out where it's coming from either. Like throtex said, have somebody sit in the back to pinpoint the issue. I will eventually do the same to figure it out.

Re: rattle

I had the same problem with the license plate rattling everytime I closed the trunk. I found that there is a tab on each side of the license plate holder and when I got each end of the license plate to fit behind the tabs the rattle stopped.

They just make more. My TSX had one rattle in the pass front door. The RL currently has one rattle (just cant figure out where). The TL on the other hand had a rattle in the door, rear pillar, headliner and under the steering wheel - broken trim pc.

vp,

have you checked out the tray where the rear sunshade retracts to? How about the rear brakelight cover at the top of the rear window? Maybe the sub cover?

Since I havn't sat in the back seat while the car is moving I can't tell if it is teh sunshade or not, but I did go back there and try to move it - it seemed solid.

As far as the brakelight cover - that is what I originally thought it was - there was a couple clips that the tint guy broke. The dealer replaced the cover - so it can't be that anymore.

I say give a few light fist pounds on the rear tray where the sunshade retracts to/where the sub is and see if you hear anything.

My rattle comes from underneath there and I can only guess that it has something to do with the sunshade mechanism because when the sunshade is up if I move it a bit I can hear the sound from below.

I have a rattle/buzz in the same area. Discovered that the package shelf was not meeting the rear window firmly and would be noisy at speed. Stuffed a small piece of cloth between the shelf and window which seems to have eliminated the noise. Will have it checked when car is serviced.
