This puzzles me
I have been thinking about this since I bought my car... I agreed on the price with the dealer over the phone before I went in to pick it up. There were 3 of same car that still in the lot but the salesman said i can only get the one i bought for the price i agreed on. he told me the reason is that the car has been on the lot the longest time and they want to want to get rid of the earliest ones so they lose less money. but then i looked at the VIN # and it shows the few digits are 0191XX and made in june of this year. and i went to check out the other same color RL and one shows the VIN as 016XX and made in april. So how can that be? if mine is made later and they want it off the lot first, shouldnt it be the other way around? I wonder if theres something wrong with my car that they want to get rid of it. Maybe I will call the salesman up and see what he has to say. Also, 2 days later after i got the car, the service dept called to make an appt for recall. I wonder why dont they fixed it while it was still on the lot and he didnt really give a direct answer what the recall was about and it doesnt state on the paper at all the description of the recall but listed wheel locks i had them installed and car wash. You think they are hiding something here?
The only thing I can imagine is if there was some paint problem. Have you looked over the car in detail to see if they had repainting any part of the car? If not, I doubt there is anything they are hiding but just playing a game of bullshit with you. Unless (and I don't know for sure) the incentives that have been given on the RLs, did they only apply to certain VIN numbers? Doubtful, but just a thought.
Also, there are no recalls on the 05' RL. There ARE TSB's but the two are very different from each other. A recall is for a safety defect which could put you in harms way. The TSBs are more items that just needed to be fixed or updated to make the car work better.

How many miles were on the car prior to your purchase? If your car had less than 0 miles, it is brand new.
It is possible that the other car on the lot (0016xx) was transferred from another dealership. Therefore, has a shorter on-the-lot time than the one you purchased.

yup, i guess i was just over reacting. I called the saleman up and he said the samething cuz the other car was in the lot the latest thats why this one goes first eventhough it has the latest built date. he says the lot # tells it all, mine has the earliest lot # for that color. So it has to go first. Now, at least i can sleep better knowing that its not a messed up car eventhough the service dept told me that before i bought it has to be jump started since its been idle on the lot for too long. i guess thats pretty normal. but thanks guys for your input.
