Sometimes when I input an address or home the screen shows the wrong miles to the destination. For example when I say go home it gives me the right directions but shows only 84 miles when I know the distance is 140 miles. It appears as if it's giving me the straight line distance. When I put in some other addresses it lists the right distance.... help!!!

 

some roads may be unverified, and it may not count that towards mileage, however, well at least on the TL, the navi will tell you that part of the route is unverified, not sure if the RL system works the same

 

That's quite a discrepency. Even on unverified roads, it will provide a relatively decent estimate of mileage. There is no reason it should be ~80 miles off.

 

Well, accordingly to the manual when it shows direction to the destination (with a small white arrow) and a distance under it, this distance is "as crow flies" - straight.

I don't think there is a way. On the other hand - it's a small white arrow, why does it disturb you? After I realized what it does I stopped mentioning it totally.
