Price for used RL?

As you all know from my other thread, I have been thinking about selling the RL. With 8k miles on it, what do you think is a fair price to sell in the current market? I am being offered $38k for it currently from one buyer.

I think some of it depends on what part of the country you are in. In general, I'd expect you'd receive more $$$ outside of some large cities and especially outside of the California market, where new 05 RLs were routinely going for $40-42K near the end of that model year. It seems like some of the bigger dealers had (or still have) a stock of 05s on top of their 06s, which would tend to push the prices down on both the new and resale market

Personally I'd run with that $38K as fast as I could.

I was testing the waters in Southern CA...Got a trade-in quote for my 2005 RL with about 14K and they were saying $35.5K best offer.

What a dealer will pay you for your RL has nothing to do with it's value. If they pay you $35,500 for the car, they will put it on their lot for $39,000 and sell it for $38,000. It is no coincidence that this is similar to the number that Vik was offered.

My dealership offered me $36K if I traded it in on a 2006 A-spec with Technology package.. and I have 6,000 miles on mine.

Since one's decision in trading to a 06 from a 05 is relative, the price for the 06 would be important too. If you don't mind, how much is the dealer charging for the 06?

If you were offered $36k for trading in a 05 that you brought for $47k, at what price point would you consider buying the 06 with tech package for?

They want ~$58K for the A-spec Technology packaged 2006. There is no way I would trade in for another RL. I was just testing the waters.
