I paid MSRP- about $850.

Others paid as little as $2500 below MSRP. It is probabily highly dependent on which part of the country you are in.

If you could wait, do that. When the Infiniti M and the Lexus G300/G430 come out, the RL should cost less. Good luck.

snowdude1,

Please read this thread, you may get more info you wanna know, thanks.

When you proposed that offer, the dealer of course knew what's in your mind. They prolly won't make an deal with you for this new car. IMHO.

According to Edmund.com

MSRP: 48,900
Invoice: 43,536

The car has only been shipping to dealers for about 4 months - a lot of the initial shipments were to satisfy pre-orders. When you are selling everything you get there's not much incentive to discount. As other posters have said, in a few months the combination of competition and having satisfied the in-the-pipe demand should create an environment where negotiation is more acceptable. Until then this isn't really unusual - new model intro's of high profile desirable cars typically result in MSRP (or above) prices due to the demand from 'must-have' buyers. It's market elasticity.

Try buying a Ford GT for the MSRP of ~$150K, lol. The only people getting that price are the high volume dealers that got an allocation of more than one and the owner decided to buy one for him/herself and sacrifice the instant $50K or more they could have made on markup.

Locking this thread, since snowdude's question has been asked in rets' thread. A perusal of that thread will give you the best indication of what everyone has been paying.
