Power Socket- pops up

The power socket on the center console is no longer staying in the closed position. Stays open. Took it apart and it looks like the catch has weakened. Any of you guys have it replaced. I am out of warranty, any idea what it costs? I can replace it myself.

You have to replace that whole section of the console, not just the socket... cost me 153 I think it was, including labor.

Thanks Logic-

Apparently there is a service bulletin on this. My dealer is going to give me a new latch ( costs about $5), I told him I would install it myself.

Yes, this was an issue with the 05 RLs. In fact it occured to several of the early 05 car mag reviewers and it had an extraordinary impact on the quality perception of the 05 RL. To my knowledge was addressed in the 06 model and I have not heard of anyone reporting issues with it beyond the 05 year.

Frankly, if the pop up power port is what made the RLs quality take a hit, I will be thankful. I have seen reports for the RL models post 05 and th quality ratings were quite good. The 05 had some annoying, but relatively minor bugs, and to my knowledge...all have been addressed with TSBs.

Ok, i feel screwed... dealer didn't even tell me there was an issue with it. just told me I had to order the entire part not just the latch or the socket. I too was out of warranty...

The bulletin number is B08.002. Perhaps you can approach your dealer for a goodwill credit.
