Potential RL buyer here... help a noob out please!
Hi everyone, long time lurker here.
I'm currently the owner of an 07 Accord Coupe EX-L i4 in NBP that has been well cared for w/ about 120K miles bought brand new. It's been great and has no issues except some oil burning. well anyways I didn't even think about buying a new car until one of my friends told me he was moving up north, and was looking to buy the RL for the SH-AWD. Well, now that got me interested in potentially buying one too, haha! the 06-08's look very classy IMO and from what KBB says, I can get into an 06-08 RL with around 100K miles for around $10k, pretty much $3 grand more than what kbb says I can sell my car for.
So my question to you guys is, what should I look for when looking at the used market for a used RL from 06-08? Is this even a good idea? I think I would definitely enjoy the V6, refined ameneties and SH-AWD. But as with any used high mileage car, i'm worried that the previous owner(s) may not have treated the car as nicely as i've treated mine. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

05-08 are all the same chassis. 05 has the most issues, 06 has less, 07 & 08 are pretty bulletproof.
There is no issue with these cars after their first timing belt as long as regular maintenance has been performed as you mentioned. I honestly you will love the RL as long as you are not scared of poor MPG, premium gas, and expensive parts. While a 100k RL is nothing to be scared of, there is stuff that will need replacing. Shocks come to mind and if the timing belt hasn't been done, that is an easy $1k.
If you can find an 07 or 08 with a new timing belt that is in good condition, I say go for it. If you can only find an 06, I would read up on propeller shaft whine and test the hell out of the A/C and door handles.
We have seen RLs last more than 315k miles. If you don't get emotionally attached by a test drive and are willing to wait for the right deal, I think you will enjoy your decision.

I think the "poor" mpg is something I can live with, being that it is pretty much on par with the MPG of the other luxury vehicles of that time, 335, E class, etc. As for expensive parts, which ones are you speaking of?
It was my understanding that these vehicles are pretty low maintenance, .
