So, just curious. I know there is literally no exhaust options for the RL's, so what's everyone running if they're running a custom setup? Anyone? I saw one youtube guy use xlr8 quad tips on his.
I know someone has has to of done something. I did the stage 3 exhaust mod on my 3g tl when I had it, and might do something similar with the rl and switch out mufflers.
Just curious to see what everyone else is running for an exhaust, because I havn't seen much posted.
I was actually just talking to another RL owner today, he had a generic Vibrant Streetpower muffler combined with a RV6 J-Pipe and a first resonator delete. Sounded really good!!! Almost TL-esque!
I was gonna say, that rl does look different. Vibrant does make some good mufflers. I really like the twin tips, are you sure most of them will fit the cutouts? That was my biggest concern. I think pcd, jpipe, throw in a resonator, and a vibrant muffler would sound good. I had a similar setup on my turbo'd civic and it sounded great, but with the v6s they should sound even better.
The first exhaust mod I'll do to my RL before mufflers is deleting the 4 mid pipes, straight piping one section then replacing one section with the vibrant resonator. You'll get a feel of how it will sound, and it'll sound even better with pcd and a jpipe.
Doing exhaust work is going to be a pain on the rl I think. Looking at the mufflers, and how they take a sharp turn inwards toward the middle of the frame and over the rear control arms. But if I can manage to fit the vibrant twin mufflers in, i'm definitely going that route. Always have loved a good looking twin style muffler.
Ksu1018, I believe it would. Just hack the tip off and weld the news ones in its place. That I don't know for sure, but you can buy some sort of clamps I think to join them without welding.
The OEM tips on our car are held on by a 10mm bolt at the 12 o'clock position. Remove it and voila tips can be slid off. I know this from wanting to slide the tips back since they recede with the aspec kit on the car (and a forum search back in the day )
I got mines down with a friend at his muffler shop. i did 2 rear magnaflow mufflers stock tips and upgraded pipe to 2.5 inch also removed 2 stock resenators and left 2 stock ones i love the sound and it feels better also not to loud for them chill days but sounds good when u put it on sports mode.

stock stuff
Awesome. How about a video clip man? If you don't mind .
First thing I did when I purchased my RL. Removed all four stock resonators, kept the stock mufflers, and got some new tips put on. Still holding strong to this day and cannot complain. Short money for a big smile all the time. Good luck with your decision!

Sounds good! I'm probably going to do something similar, but the only reason I'm adding a resonator is because I plan on adding a jpipe and pcds as well, which would probably cause a little rasp and drone with that setup. But I think it sounds great for a cheap mod! 👍
