Post-door handle replacement issues with unlocking

Many of you have voiced concerns over the door handle "dimples" failing to work for locking particularly after washing. The resolution is to have your dealer order replacement door handles for the driver and front passenger handles. That'll fix the locking problem.

However, in my RL, which has had all 4 Acura Updates plus the door handle replacement, I'm now seeing a failure on unlocking the doors. The failure to unlock typically happens when the RL has been sitting idle for some time - say, first thing in the morning, or when it's been sitting for a few hours or more. The scenario is like this:

1) Remote in right hand or in pocket
2) Fully "grab" the driver's door handle with left hand, and nothing happens - no matter how long you grip the handle.
3) Remove your hand, fully "grab" the handle again, and the car responds and unlocks normally.

Anyone else with this post-handle replacement problem? I have not called ACS yet to report, but will do so on Monday.

Geez aphotog, I thought the door handle replacement would fix those problems. I have not had the replacement yet and have complained to my service manager that the door handles do just what you say ... have to touch, release, then touch again to unlock. He said not to worry, that new handles were on the way and he'd have them next month (wonder why I have to wait since you got yours?, oh well). The problem I have had since the '05 RL 4-part update (05RL4pu) is that now the doors don't lock with the dimple no matter what. Will call next week to schedule the door handles I think, then report back.

I had major issues with this handle thing on the drivers side only. I complained when I took the car in for service the two times and they kept telling me the codes were coming back that the handle was fine. My passenger side handle has always worked fine. One thing I found helped was not wrapping my fingers all the way around the handle when opening it, but locking was always a major issue and only worked 50% of the time. But the thing that changed this problem completely for me was switching the fobs. I was normally carrying Fob 1 and the wife Fob 2. She almost never drives the car, but she told me she was never having the problem. So I switched fobs and with Fob 2, same drill (I haven't changed my approach) and the handle now locks most of the time when I touch it after all the doors have been closed. Unlocking happens consistently but occasionally I have to pull the handle a second time.

Before the update, I would have to pull the handle twice for the door to unlock during the second try. After the update, I have had to pull as much as four times for the door to unlock.
