Positive cable battery... Corroded
Positive cable battery... Corroded
Hello all for the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing battery and cranking issues starting my Rl.
When i jumpstart the battery it charged fine for a few days and then on really cold mornings it would hesitate and require a jump.
After taking my car to my regular Acura service dealer it would test good...so I would leave and all would be ok only to happen a few days later.
After jumping the car yesterday and driving around it stayed charge...but I decided to drive it today into SEARS for a battery check and it would not start for them to pull into the shop....they tested it at 91cca and said I needed a new battery but they did not have a battery instock for that car...so they charged it when I was about to leave Sears I noticed that my navigation, display and clock display and other stuff we're not working....not even a code input display....I started to get nervous....so i decided to take the car into another Acura dealer for an OEM battery replacement and to solve the navigation issue.
After about 30 min or so I was told my battery tested fine so it's not the battery....they would do a diagnostic test to see what's draining the battery....$67.50 after about 35 min I was told the POSITIVE CABLE- Battery - CABLE ASSY., STARTER is corroded from the outside throughout but they have cleaned out the terminals and put a screw in place as a temporary fix between the terminal and negative connector and suggest changing that cable the next time my battery is replaced.... By the way the navigation fuse was blown out and they replaced at no cost. Anyone had this cable replaced? and why didn't Sears and my main Acura dealer tell me about this cable?

most techs or mechanics are just part replacers.
they dont really diagnose things.
kinda like the busy doctor who just prescribes a general medicine without actually wanting to know whats causing the symptoms

Will i be able to have the red box on the + side top of the battery replaced as well...these techs at SEARS seem to have broken the clips that hold it together...I am so pissed....I will take a picture if what the Acura Dealer did and post later tom.
