Popping sound on start

I have a 2005 RL. On occasion, when first starting the car I seem to hear a slight "POP" similar to a backfire. Only on occasion (about once a month) and only on the first start of the day. Any one else heard this sound?

TIA

I have not experienced this with my RL. However, I did occaisionally experience it with my TL. It was part of the ULEV quelching excessive emmisions, which are worse on start up.

I would assume anything else, such as misfire, vacuum leak or other would report a trouble code.

I hear it sometimes. It's normal. Much more noticeable with the window or door open when starting the car.

Who said it is NORMAL? Is there an explanation as to what it is.

Thanks
