Passing gear
I've noticed that if I'm just "casually" passing on freeways/highways I'll stay in Drive and hit passing gear on the accelerator. But if I needed to pass at higher speeds I'll typically go to manual mode and downshift to 4th or 3rd as needed. It's odd that I like the idea the car has paddle shifters but it feels more natural using the manual shifter.
Curious as to what others do or think.

The shifter seemed more natural to me, I'd only use the paddle shifters on a track, as both hands really should be on the wheel.
As for which gear... I used 3rd for passing in my drive of the RL, since 4th and 5th are really overdrive gears.

Paddle shifters work well in bumper to bumper traffic to keep me from getting bored.
