The other night my wife was driving the RL and I was the passenger. We stopped at house and I went in while she waited in the car with it running. When I got back in the passenger a message came up on the NAVI screen saying 'Passenger air bag off'.

I guess the car senses if anyone is in the seat, or maybe a kid, and turns the air bag off. This has not happened since and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. It may be mentioned in the owners manual, but I haven't checked.

 

It happens to me all the time when my 12 year old son is a front seat passenger. The warning light goes off once he's out of the car but I need to delete the message from the Nav.

 

It would come up if the senors detected a weight lower than a pre-set thresthold. What that thresthold is is not indicated in the manual. Did you leave a bag or heavy item on the seat? This happend to me when I left my backpack on the seat.

 

It used to happen to me when I would put my briefcase on the seat and start the car. I got tired of having to delete the message, so I quit doing it.
