Paint Bubble Near Gas Tank Door

I have a 2005 RL that suddenly developed a large bubble in the paint just below and behind the fuel door. The bubble is about 3-4 inches long and sort of an oval shape and rose about 1/2 inch off the surface of the car.

After yesterday's trip to the dealer for scheduled maintenance, the bubble has since "popped."

I'm concerned about paint separating from the car body like that, and now that it has popped, there is a way for the elements to get under the paint and corrode the body in that location.

Has anyone seen anything like this or know if a repair for this sort of thing would fall under warranty?

Are you the original owner and sure there has never been any body work in that location?

I'm not the original owner, so I don't know if any body work has been done or not. In any case, it probably looks like I'm out the $$$ to get it fixed.

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately it is likely the paint will continue to be compromised. I would have it checked.

The rear fender is aluminum, which will oxidize but will not rust.

Good bet it was repainted before you got it.

Honda might good will the repair if it is a factory defect, which I doubt.

Thanks for the replies. I got a good enough deal on this car that I pretty much expected to have to put in some $$$ to fix these types of "gotchas." Such is life, I guess!
