P0420
My 05 rl has cAme up with the check emission system MSG today, took it to the garage on the other side of my place, they scanned the p0420 code, the great guy was nice enough to print out lots of infomation for me to read. So it seems the cat converter is the problem, but he suggests me to go to the Acura to have a check up, just to make sure the cat is bad. But he also suggest me that the O2 sensors could be the problem. I am thinking of to gamble on changing the O2 sensors instead paying the dealer $100 for diagnostic. Have any of you have the same problem and like to share your experience? Any input will help!
In the Garage under service manual there is a PDF named "Honda". It has all of the codes' meanings and may point you to more info. Luckily I haven't had any codes. Good luck. Let us know what happens.
Yeah, it is called Rear bank catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)
But replacing the cat convetor, i know it will costs me an arm or leg, so I am thinking of trying to replace the O2 sensor as the guy had Suggest, it could had been the cause of the problem, since my car has 120k on it. Which is about the time that the sensors can go bad.
