Overhead Blue LED's - poor aim?

Hi all.. it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm still an avid reader.

Quick question for you all...
I am having my car serviced and have a RDX as a loaner...(peppy little car... don't like the dash...and LOTS of turbo noise, but it sounds kinda cool anyway)

So, I'm driving it...and I notice that it, like almost every other care I've driven with LED ambient light...is aimed at the shifter. Illuminating that general area. I've noticed that in the RL... they're aimed at my forearm...on the armrest. Are mine just pointing the wrong way? or are they all like that?
