Oem Honda oil filters are made by fram!!!

So found a video of a guy taking apart oem Honda filter and fram. They look the same .

So frame are known to collapse and clog under pressure. Oil goes unfiltered through bypass valve at the bottom of the filter.

Probably better to use Purolator filters. Supposed to be better than frame
What about air filter? Who makes original Honda air filter
And which ones are better at cleaning the air. I don't race..not worried about air flow

Its important to look at the last three characters on the filters.

15400-PLM-A01: made by Filtech, regarded as high quality
15400-PML-A02: made by Honeywell, otherwise known as Fram

I believe the A02 filter is being phased on by a new variant: 15400-RTA-003 I havent had a chance to read on this new filter. But the limited comments I have read suggest it is better than Honeywell/Fram.

Okay, lots of noise and zero substantiation here. Folks need to realize Fram makes many different grades of oil filters, both under their own brand as well as branded for many other companies; and the filters which are branded for the likes of Honda must meet Honda's requirements, not the super cheap bottom of the line Fram. The fact is, while the elcheapo Fram filter may well have longevity issues, virtually all of their higher line filters are equal the class of the industry at any given price point. Said another way, just because Fram manufactured any given filter, in no way means it isn't a top-tier filter.

Thanks for replies. Yes the one I used had Honeywell sticker.

Was thinking maybe use Purolator or something bigger (more filter paper inside) than oem filter. Oil looks like shit after 3-4k miles in nasty places like NYC.

Air filter I change every 30k miles.

Highway 3000 miles NYC to Florida and back oil looks like new

Mostly I use oem filter. But stp doesnt look that bad. Hand feels a little more quality on stp filter.
some Honeywell Honda oil filters have some epoxy or some glue sticking out between mating surfaces of outer ring and inner plate with holes.
I just don't want to be that dumb ass sucker paying double the price for a Honda sticker.

I understand oem is priced for a reason.. valve guide seals go oem. Lesson learned. And other critical parts oem usually better. There are lots of fools who think they got a bargain and saved money when they buy duralast or some similar branded alternator, oil pump, starter.

So not saying let's just all save money and buy cheap shit from AutoZone. But would like to know what's undoubtedly better than oem oil filter. Purolator I think costs more than oem

Similar to Fram, Purolator makes different grades of filters; just because an oil filter says Purolator on the outside doesn't imbue it with otherworldly properties. Said another way, I have no problem buying a top of the line Fram, Purolator, WIX, or STP filter; I avoid the bargain units like the plague.

I think people need to remember that a good filter may cost you $5 more but that $5 is way less than a $5000 engine. That being said Fram's high end filters are good.
