new to the RL world

I just bought a 2006 RL, really excited about this car. I'm scouring the internet for information and thought maybe someone here can help.

A couple things.
Fog lights, on my new to me car the fog light lens is cracked - best fix? After market fog lights or OEM and where to get them?

I didn't see an AUX input for the radio and I'm not sure my iPhone 7 is compatible with the car's bluetooth. Is there a cable or a way to use my phone for music?

Where do y'all shop for parts and modifications? I can't leave anything stock (much to my wife displeasure) so I'll be looking for ways to make it my own.

Looks like I can only find a K&N replacement filter and not an intake, anyone make an intake for the gen2 RL?

Anything else anyone wants to toss out I'm game for learning - I'm used to rebuilding my Jeep for rock crawling, not a luxury car

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

Scott

Welcome Scott! The first two questions have been covered, I would take a browse thru the stickied 2G Garage thread on the 2G RL subforum landing page, that should give you some guidance for Bluetooth streaming and fixing the fog lights.

The stock intake is great! I wouldn't mess with it just for the sake of modding....

With your rock crawler, you had a purpose to mod. You'll need to find your purpose with a luxury car... Like for example, your aux problem.
i think you will have to add a piece of hardware to get an auxiliary cord in. That's how I did it in my 2006 TL

What I find that helped me find a purpose was to figure out the short comings of the vehicle and build or add on to that...

For example, tint. In my location, the sun isn't a joke.
what else do you think you can improve on with the car?

Tint for sure, I'm in Colorado so there is plenty of sun and black leather interior just gets hot.

Other than that I won't know for a while, I won't have the car for another week while some work gets done.

Thanks for the links, appreciate it.

If you don't have a garage to park in, you might consider "paint protection" for headlights which is basically a clear tint. It helps to prevent the yellowing/fading of the plastic.

Thanks! I'll look into it. For now the Jeep has to live in the garage, with a soft top and hooligans running around I don't want it stolen.

I noticed while we were checking out the car to buy that there was a "hook" missing in the truck on the side. I have no idea what to call it I tried to google cargo hook but nothing came back other than trunk parts. Anyone know what the blazes that part is called? It can't be much on eBay or Amazon but I can't even find what to call it...

Can you match it to anything on this pic?

^It almost sounds like part #17 which is the hook like thing, that they are referencing. Part # for that is 84662-SJA-A01ZA

Awesome feedback, thank you, I appreciate it!

Right now I'm using XM, the car still has a subscription tied to it so I'll use it while it's free

I bought some LED lights for the puddle lights and the front map lights. Awesome change for 12.99. I had to order a couple different bulbs for the back of the car.

Today, drop in K&N. Doing some wheel and tire shopping as well. trying to find the right wheel for this car is difficult, not sure if its the style of the car, the color or what it is but damn I'm having a hard time.

If you hold the up and down button on the right side of the wheel for 10 seconds, it will allow you to adjust the driver specific settings. This includes interior light timings. I think that's what he was trying to say?

Thumbs up

Wheels on and she looks a whole lot better. Here are the specifics:

KMC 691 Matte finish Gun Metal Grey 18x8, wrapped in General Altimax 235/50/R18. I got lucky while having these put on, someone ordered black lug nuts and ended up backing out of the purchase. The guy who was helping me was really digging the wheels and thought the black lug nuts would look better so with no added cost he had them put 'em on. Its subtle but looks much nicer than chrome lug nuts IMO
