New Purchase: 05 Rl

First off I have to say thank you to my beautiful wife for allowing me to get this car. without her this wouldn't be possible. Thank you.

This is my first post on this website although I've been lurking around for quite some time now. Looking at everyone's cars and getting ideas on what I really wanted my next to be. It's an 05 Acura Rl. So far I love it. No complaints at all. By far the most complete vehicle that I've ever driven. So here are the pictures. Plans are simple: tinted windows, A-spec lip, A-spec suspension and I think that I'm going with black rims. Thanks for looking and thank you again to my wife.

Very nice. It looks well cared for.

Windsheild wipers are parked in Snow / Ice mode. Grab the upper tips of the blades and slide down to the standard concealed position.

I would also de-Spitz it.

Thank you on the tip about the windshield wipers. I had to look it up in the manual to figure out how to do it. And the de-Spitz is coming. Along with the rest of the badges.

The black on black is nice. I'm thinking of the Enkei Lusso rims.

Make sure to test fit if possible to not have any issues w/ the front calipers.

Yea I've been reading all about the fit issues and rims. But these cars look so good with a nice set of wheels on them.

Nice car. Another front lip only. In for moar pics. I am still in limbo about the benefit of the whole kit versus just the front.

Is that a red pin stripe or a reflection?

I agree. I would de-spitz it. You can probably take a hair dryer and heat the spitzer name a little and it will peel right off.

It's a red pin strip. I'm not sure that I like it though. Never been a fan but it's kind of growing on me. I don't know how to get it off anyway. Any suggestions?

I do not see a front lip kit on this car?

The red pin strip is very subtle. I would leave it. You might wind up with ghosting if you remove it (vinyl or painted). Black cars bring the most focus to even slight imperfections in the clear coat. Clay, polish and seal and I think you will be amazed with the factory hand wet sanded finish of the RL.

There's no front lip on the car. Plans are to do a whole lip kit though. This weekend will be the first wash and wax. I think it'll look exceptional.

To each his own, I've always hated the pin stripes. Before the RL, I had a 6 year old black car with a red pinstripe, bought with 96,000 miles, and it peeled off very easily. Enjoy the RL, its a beauty!

Good call on the lip. The fence threw me off.

I guess it does look like it has a front lip on there. Hopefully soon.

So where in Ohio (or W Pa) are you? Spitzer emblems and Ohio temp plate say all.

In any case, welcome and thanks for delurking in the forum from an Ohioan.

Nice pick up. I too have a NBP RL. Seems like we've actually had a lot of new members that just picked up black RL's. How many miles are on it? It still has the OE Michelins on it...

Ooooh! My color scheme inside AND out. I love it.

Note too that the factory-recommended location for the A-Spec emblem is exactly where your future ex-Spitz emblem is. :.)

And a nice touch to give your wife a shout-out. Good on her for letting you do what makes you happy.

I'm in south eastern Ohio. I'm not going to lurk any more. I just got the windows tinted and I'll be posting pics after I get the rims on. Just haven't found any that i really like. Thanks for welcoming me. Not many people from Ohio around here though.

The odometer just hit 70k. I love the car. It has aged so well compared to other cars that I've seen from the same year.

She just read your post and I've been showing her a lot of the RL's on this website. She's loving them and has given me the clearance to do anything that I want. With her input of course.

You obviously married well. Good man! A car guy/gal always does better with an understanding spouse.

Enjoy the RL in good health.

My wife is beautiful and very understanding. She's already willing to let me get rims and I just got it tinted. Just looking now. Any suggestions?

What kind of tints did you get? How much?
I have a white/ebony RL, thinking about tinting, rims... Any suggestions?

Congrats on your RL, I always preferred Black/Toupe.

Thank you. The tint is 35%. I think it fits well with the black car. it cost $225. As far as rims....I have been looking at Lexani's or TSW's. I just don't know yet and I'm worried about the rims clearing the front brakes.

Both great options on the wheels. Not sure about Lexani, but most TSWs clear the BBK. Not to mention the weight and price for an all around win.

I would like to see Nurburgrings on an RL. I have photoshopped a few and they may be too racy, but I have yet to see a set look bad on an actual car.

I've said it before, I love the TSW Nurburgrings. I just don't think they would look right on an RL. I went with chrome TSW Londrinas. They cleared the front brakes by a mile. Lexani is actually a lower quality brand from Asanti. They make decent wheels but TSW is going to be better bang for your buck. Lighter weight and a more durable finish.

I know. ^ And I will concede that none of my photoshops look right. Still, I am withholding a rule-out until is see them on an RL.

I love the Nurburgrings. They are the ones that I have my eye on. I'm kind of hesitant to pull the trigger though because I don't think they will look right either. But they are sexy wheels. The Lexani's are cool but the more I look at TSW and their price the more I like them.

Thanks for the info on the TSW's. From what I've seen they make some of the nicest wheels. I agree the Nurburgrings might be too racy but they are a very nice set of wheels

Those Londrinas are clean man. I'll keep those in mind but I'd go with the black ones. Thanks for the info.

You'd have to go with the black ones if you want 20's. I got the last set of chrome ones TSW had.
