New owner question...engine fan engaging every 5 seconds or so?

Hey all,

I am a new own of a 2005 RL with 125,000 miles.
Today, after driving to the auto store for some oil, I came back home and parked it. While the engine was still on, I heard a strange loud, what sounded like, revving from the front of the engine. It would kick on and off every 5 seconds or so.
I looked at the RPM gauge, and it was not moving...so it wasn't the engine revving. Temp gauge was fine also. Any idea what this could be?
I just picked up the car yesterday. Work done prior to me picking it up was timing belt, water pump, tensioner pulley, transmission 3x3 fluid change, new A/C compressor, and a differential fluid change.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Whew....so glad to hear that.
Thank you for letting me know...I appreciate it. You put my mind at ease.
So...what is it that's doing that, and is there a cause?

It's just the ECU working with the motor to keep it to a specific temperature. Now the car has 2 fans, one is for the engine temperature and the other is for the a/c, the one that keeps kicking on and off every few seconds is more than likely your fan for the a/c.

Huh...interesting....the A/C compressor was just replaced. Should I be concerned?
