Was driving from Philly to Balto last night & the NAV system just blacked out and restarted itself. Required pressing "OK" just as if I had turned the car off & restarted it. This is the 2nd time this has happened; the last being about just after the new software was installed about five weeks ago. Anyone else experience this?

 

I have seen this behavior since I took delivery of my RL back in December. However, my situation seemed to have gotten better after the product updates (XM unit replaced, etc.) were performed back in February. With that said, my dealer said that Acura was still asking for the nav hardware to be shipped back for debugging. When my dealer went to remove the hardware, they realized that there were two DVD's in the drive. I haven't checked the drive myself to see if this is physically possible, but that's what they said. They're blaming the reboots on that... FWIW, I think the reboots were NavTraffic related since it usually rebooted while I had the traffic view up or while I was using the other traffic related functions.

I also got a call from Acura yesterday asking me to confirm that the version of the software that the nav unit shows matches the version printed on the DVD. Since I dropped my car off at a body shop yesterday for a key scratch to be repaired, I haven't been able to do this yet.

I recommend that you open a case with Acura CS. You also might want to check for two DVDs in your drive

 

I ordered a new Navi DVD Ver 4.13 and installed it Friday evening.
Today, My Navi System went blank and started again, not once but twice. I called the Acura dealer and was informed another owner mentioned it happened to them but the dealership was not aware of a fix at this time. They wanted to set up an appointment to leave the car but I decided to wait awhile.

I did however remove the # 5 fuse and re-entered the Nav and radio codes before leaving work to day and for the trip home all was ok..who knows ?

Called the order desk and questioned whether or not the disk could be bad and the order taker said to check withthe dealer. Big help.

 

I called Frankel & Acura CS. Both acted like they never even heard of this symptom. Surprise?
