Morning Brake Squeal Cured
My RL is not in the VIN range for the rear brake squeal TSB. And other than the morning squeal in the driveway, my RL exhibits no other brake squeal.
I was in for my B1 service this weekend ($47.62). My Service Advisor mentioned my brakes showed 'minimal wear' and I just hit 35K miles. I did mention the morning squeal, and I expected it was due to scrubbing off overnight contaminants on the rotors as it does it only after sitting overnight.
He said they would check it out. The tech tells me they are fine, but applied some type of lube (on the brakes? ). But I have to say....no more squeal! I am not sure how long a fix it is, it may be like the sunroof lube,,,,apply as needed.
I will check my Service Invoice when I return home and report more detail on the application to the brakes.
I remain very impressed how smooth the brakes of my RL have been along with the nominal wear and the virtually absent brake dust.

I had the same issue and Dealer said they would apply lube, and I had the same reaction: Lube on brakes??
Solved it for a while, but it returns fairly quickly. I'm about due for my third set of front brakes (120K miles)

I checked the Service Invoice and the Tech noted: "Brake Pads dry on Backing Plate. Applied MolyKote to Pads."
We will see how long it lasts. Maybe MolyKote is the same magic lube they apply to my sunroof every service call.

MolyKote is brake lube that they apply behind the brake pads....this reduces friction between the caliper and pads (NOT ROTOR and PADS)....hence when you apply the brakes there will be no more squealing !!!

It does have a warning that the lube is for industrial use only
