Looking to buy a 05 RL this weekend, what to look out for?
Didn't see a buyers guide so I'm making this post.
We're looking to buy a White RL with Black Interior this weekend. Car has 92,000 miles and comes with a detailed service history. Purchase price is $15,500.
What things should I lookout for?

As always check the vin stickers inside the fenders, truck lid, hood, doors, etc. to make sure it matches the VIN on the dash. It rules out alot of crashes. Next you are only 13K miles away from some major service like a timing belt, water pump, etc. ... at least $1200.
That's a start.
That's a start.

In addition to the Professor's suggestions, check to see if the headlights flicker while driving, listen for a whining or whistling at around 65-75 mph, make sure the AC works and also ask if it has been repaired. Good luck!

In addition to the above excellent suggestions, make sure the keyless entry/door handles are operational. This was a fairly frequent area of failure in the 2G RL.

All fantastic suggestions, also see how old the nav disc is, check the tires for uneven wear, look in the messages for errors (they may not have deleted them) and make sure you get both key FOBs.

I'm going to have this done in the next month or two (its early but I dont want to deal with it exactly at 105K), so I have been extensively researching the best deals. I'll be getting the kit for $250, my Honda down here is doing it for 300 and he'll be changing out all fluids, and spark plugs for an extra $100 in parts, no extra labor. Thats ~$650 after a complete 105K service, no need to pay double that amount unless you like wasting money LOL

I believe there is a buyers guide in the Garage for a new car. (The second thread on the main 2G RL page.) i think its is under "XI." I think it would be worth asking the dealer to go ahead and do the 105k service included in the price. I've heard of this happening, and it never hurts to ask.

RL has same timing belt kits as other J series engines. And you are correct the COMPLETE kit is 250-300 bucks. But it should only take any competent mechanic 3 hours to perform this job. And at $100/hour (Honda labor rates are cheaper than Acura) thats only 550-600 bucks. Also see threads below where Hamilton Honda offers the service for $389. Add $100 if you need the tensioner pulley done as well.

Hey, congrats at looking at a great car but beware of some of those issues listed above as I have an 05 RL and have the diff issue (say the diff needs to be replaced 4k+), propeller shaft issue (about 1800), and have actually REPLACED my awd module (1500 bucks) and my ac died (fixed for 1k since I found a compressor at a junk yard, 2200 if I had it done through acura) plus my headlight flickers (about 600 dollars)
The diff issue may not be easy to hear when its warm out but be careful its really loud if its around 3 c or colder, I can still hear it quite well with my stereo cranked. Also check to see there is no light squealing/whirring noises when applying slight acceleration (mostly around 60km/s on my car).
