in-line diagnostic menu comes on

Starting last summer the navigation screen has been really flaky. Works for weeks, goes off for weeks, sort of gets fuzzy at times, you name it. A few weeks ago it starting asking for the navigation code upon a couple of starts. Then recently the in line diagnostic menu always comes on upon startup, with the "Navi ECU" block green. If I hit "start diag" it makes more blocks green down to F-CAN. Then if I hit the button again, it goes to the HFL box and the speaker barks "self diagnosis module". If I give the Spock three-finger push of the buttons, it goes back to the main diagnostic menu where I can exit and the screen is alive. It's ALIVE!

Anybody else have this issue and/or know a solution?

EDIT: This is a 2005 RL.

Interesting... Did the car get worked on prior to the issue starting? Did you get the passenger airbag fixed?

No, the car had not recently been worked on prior to this issue. At some point I did have the airbags replaced on that factory recall.
