For the cost of just one tank of gas, you can do it right the first time around...one...tank...of...gas.

i understand but if the 2100 high beams are the same or brighter then our stock bulbs , then that would be good enough for me. I don't use the beams that often, and the drl i would just need it to look white.

I really shouldn't have to quote you to explain this but as you said, they are not brighter than our stock bulbs at 2100 lumens. Best to spend the extra tank of gas me thinks

I purchased the ones recommended by Turk for ~100 USD - these appear to be identical to the ones from VLED.
Wholesale Product Snapshot Product name is Cars Use 9005 Bulbs Cree 35W 3200lm 9005 LED Headlight Bulb for uaz, toyota mark 2,mazda demio,vw polo sedan
I put them in last night and they work great so far. DRL/High functions perfectly. DRL is brighter than stock and high is also. These are a nice crisp white color.
I'll let you know if I have any problems.

It may be brighter but may not be better than halogens about long distance illuminating.
Because reflector is designed for halogen and as you may know, even one milimeter very important for focusing.
You will get the point when you turn highbeams 30 feet away from a wall: NO FOCUS BUT BREAKING.
But they are better for WARNING in daytime.
I hope I could tell

Türk

Here are some additional pics that may help.
The first one is my LED DRL's with just the running (parking) lights on.
The second one is with the LED's as high beams. As you can see they are bright.
There is also a pic of the resistor. This is a 50W 6 Ohm version just for illustrative value only. As 007Spy mentions, you should really use a 100W version to be sure.
Finally, There is the bulb. This one is a design they call Chip-On-Board (COB) which places the led across a substrate for better light dispersion. The versions shown in other posts are a different (updated) take on the same concept.
Don't be fooled by claims of very high light (lumen) output as this is mostly hype and dependent on a lot of factors such as input voltage, voltage stability and of course your resistor among others. As long a you use a bulb with sufficiently high verified output sometimes referred to as Luminous Flux, you should be good to go. (see last pic)

I've viewed this thread many times and have been on the fence on getting this. My main use for this will obviously be for the DRL feature and to use as a signal to flash other drivers and pedestrians. I'm now certain that I'll get it but would like to know if I can flash other drivers just like with my OEM 9005 bulbs?

Yes, they operate just like the stock bulbs. BTW, V-LED's is releasing a 6k version in a couple weeks.

I'm waiting to see the side by side comparison, personally. My car is in the shop right now getting the whole front end replaced. I might just have them throw in regular bulbs for now and credit me the $200 so I can wait to see if I like the 6k ones better.

I have been wanting to add some HIDs for high beams to match the lows without the low's cutoff, other than
HIDs not having the DRL feature, how would these LEDs compare to HIDs?
Thanks!!

I received my bulbs yesterday and installed them. Looks good near and from a distance and what I love the best is that I can actually use them to signal to other drivers and pedestrians. I just may order this for my GS.

An HID beam will reach MUCH further than the LED beam. You will also get a much more consistent light pattern if you use projectors. If you just throw them into the stock reflectors, I doubt there will be much difference.

BDogg,
Thanks for investigating this. This is something that's bothered me since I got my RL 8 years ago. Just for clarification, with just the VLED kit does it trigger a lamp failure warning in the car if you don't install a separate resistor? Do they sell the resistor and tell you where in line to install it if required?
Thanks

Either way, I jumped through all kinds of hoops wiring up a $70 set of LED's in the wife's 07 TL DRL's with tons of help from oo7. It was a pain in the ass and left wires running all over the place. After that fiasco, I would gladly spend the extra $100 to get a plug and play kit and skip the headache.

They have both dim and high output stages?
BTW, did you move to Cali, or has the epidemic spread from NJ all the way to VA?

Thanks to Turk and BDoggPrelude
BDogg did the research that convinced me we might finally have a good solution to the "yellow" DRL's and found the bulbs to do the deed. Then, Turk found the same set up on Aliexpress for $110.
I was too impatient to wait for VLED's to have a low enough sale so I took a chance and ordered from Aliexpress in China based on Turk's recommendation.
Cars Use 9005 Bulbs Cree 35W 3200lm 9005 LED Headlight Bulb for uaz, toyota mark 2,mazda demio,vw polo sedan-in Light Source from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group
The bulbs took 10 days to get here but as near as I can tell they are EXACTLY the same ones sold by VLED. They are plug and play. Low power DRL works great, High beam works great, no warning lights tripped, no hacked wiring. You just plug in to the wiring harness that used to go to the standard bulb and then from the small drivers to the wires coming from the new LED's. Perfect.
They look good. I haven't yet had a chance to compare night time brightness of the high beam pattern to previous bulbs but I expect the output to be at least as good as the original which I never found to be exceptional.

2007 LSM KB1 Tech w/CMBS
The sales people at V-LEDS say that their next big sale will be on Cyber Monday. I'm thinking 20% at least and I'm going to ask if the 6K version of this LED is out yet.

Just got this from V-LEDS Support and these lights appear to be available in both 5K and 6K:
"Hi Steve,

Shop Bulb #'s - Brake Lights - Turn Signals & More | VLEDS
They are available for pre-order now with discount.
Please let us know if you have any questions about these new LED headlights.

Interesting. BDogg, a pair of the 6K 3000 Lumen 9005/HB3 is $167.99 if you pre-order. Won't be available until 12/17 but I can wait.

Was just about to see what sale they have for Black Friday to pick up a pair of the MT-G2 and then saw the email for the new LMZ.
Might just wait and see... even with 20% off they are still $200. Pretty steep to pay for DRL/high beam setup. LOL
