leasing a 2006 RL with accessories

I am about to finally pull the trigger on a 36 month lease for an RL. However, I want add the rear view camera($495), wood look($559) and deck lid spoiler ($382).

How would the accesories work in a lease? Do I end up paying for entire amount of the accessories even though I turn the car in at the end of 36 monthts? Or is it a percentage of the overall vehicle like actual car?

What's the best way to do this?

Please let me know. Thanks.

As far as I know you pay full price and turn them in but I honestly have never heard any definitive on it either way.

Would like to know if I can rent the accessories for 3 years and then give them back for a discounted price?

Do'nt see anything in the forums that discussed this subject.

Unlikely...

Although, I thought in a lease, if they build them into the 'purchase price' of the lease, then you are paying for only part of the items as you are leasing them. They would depreciate the same amount the car is going to - based on the residual values.

You can either pay for them up front, or you can roll them into the lease. Dealer accessories generally do not increase the residual value -- so you're paying for them in full with interest if you roll them in the lease. But you're paying for them over time, and depending on whether you can expense your lease payments, then it could be a good thing. But no, you can't "rent them" for 3 years then give them back....

Also, the dealer is going to want to charge you installation over and above the retail price of these accessories. The dealer has some play in this -- they can eat the install, for example, or sell you the accessories at a discount. Don't expect huge discounts on anything but labor, but you can generally save a few bucks off the dealer list on the accessories.

WTH is "wood look"?

Yes, that's what I meant.

Has anyone shopped for accessories on an RL lease lately? How much did it increase the price?

Let me know. Thanks.

Uhh.... accessory price / 36 mos = rough estimate of increased payment, add a buck or two a month for lease fee.

So the backup cam at $500 would probably be in the vicinity of about $15 bucks a month in your lease payment... you can do the math on the rest.

I meant does anyone know or has anyone priced out the accessories at the same residual value as the car for spoiler, rear cam, etc.

So I would only pay 55% of the price for each accessory to be included in my monthly payment? I've not heard of this but was wondering if anyone has done this recently.

Again -- you have to ASK YOUR DEALER whether costs for dealer accessories residualized or not, because it varies by state and leasing company.

If the accessories can be included in the residualized value of the vehicle, then you can figure on paying the standard lease formula for it ( [total cap cost - residual value] + lease fee + depreciation \ months of lease = monthly payment) but if they are not then it's (cost + lease fee \ monthly payment) for the accessories.

It all depends on your lease. And that varies. So figure $16 a month for $500 worth of accessories if it's NOT residualized, and $8-9 a month for $500 worth if it IS residualized.

I can't possibly make it any clearer than that. Anybody else want to take a whack at it?
