Keyless Remote Range?

Does anyone know how far the car can be driven with out the remote close by? When I take my car to the wash I often leave my remote in my pocket. They don't seem to have any problem starting the car at the wash and driving it through. I have to take a guess and say at times I may be 100 feet away from car with the remote still in my pocket. Just curious how far you would have to be away from the car were it would not start?

If the car is already on it can drive as far as you want without the remote. The only time you won't be able to drive your car is once the car has been turned off - it cannot be turned back on without the remote inside the vehicle.

You must have stored your second remote in the car. The car will not start if the remote is anywhere outside the car. Even 5 feet is too far away for it to start. If you leave the engine running when you pull up to the car wash then they can drive it away as far as they want to.

Well, I must have a problem then. My second remote is always hanging on the key holder at the house. I have actually witnessed the car wash folks start the car with the remote in my pocket while I was still in the building looking out the window Should I contact the dealer and have them look into this?

Well - when they turn off the car, if they don't turn it all the way off (i.e. if they leave it in the accessory position) it will still start again without the fob inside the car. Try it yourself when you get a chance.
