Is there any increase in engine noise associated with the K & N filter replacement and if so could you try to quantify the difference in cabin noise??

How did you get to the filter?

Please tell me how you removed the OEM filter.......I purchased a K & N about two months ago and could not get the top half of the air box off. Please help.

Not more noise inside the cabin. Mostly a deeper exhaust sound at idle and low RPM, not much noticable above.

If you fully exposed the Airbox lid by removing the plastic panal(s) on top- there are 4 screws to ope the box lid. The one on the right side for the box as standing at the driver wheel and closest to teh engine is the hardest to see and lowest to get at- but it is there. - Once getting all screws out- pull lid box off of rubber instake hose and the factory filter is exposed.

I did it- about 20 minutes onse you find the screws- everything goes well.

With these K&N air filters, PLEASE be careful with them. Make sure they seal well and the media is not torn or ripped. These filters are notoriously for leakage and poor filtration, causing dirt to enter into the engine and cause engine damage if left unnoticed.

The best way to prevent this is to ensure that the filter is serviced properly, regularly, and the filter is oiled correctly. Often times, people will clean these filters with dishwashing liquid and not rinse off all of the soap, causing the soap residue to enter the engine.

Use oil analysis to monitor Si levels to ensure that the air filter is working properly. Dirt ingestion will severely reduce oil life.
