J pipe install in 05

Questions about the j pipe...first of all who sells it. Second, does it throw a code once installed and if so, how to fix that? Nonfoulers on the O2 sensors or ECU tune? Will the nonfoulers work if I decided to remove the kittens from the exhaust? I'm sure you know what I mean by kittens...does it come with all parts necessary, such as gaskets, hardware, etc...

RV6 still sells J-Pipes to my knowledge. I have the RV-6 J pipe installed for almost a year now without a single code being triggered. Came with all necessary hardware.

You run it with or without the stock kittens?

Thinking of punching them as well...

RV6 J pipe deletes the primary cat. You’re left with just the precast up top.

Anyone got a discount code for rv6, lol?

Would clearing the precats throw a code, and if so would adding nonfoulers to the downstream o2s fix the problem? Standard 18mm nonfoulers drilled with a half inch hole suffice?

I’m not sure on both counts. Maybe someone who has done it can chip in.

Well, my f150 had four O2 sensors (2 precats, 2 cats)...two upstream, which did the fuel/air mix, and two downstream, which determined whether or not the cats were working by checking fuel/air after the cats...if you trick the two downstream into thinking the air is relatively clear, by installing the sensors into the nonfoulers (which takes them out of the exhaust stream enough to appear to have less unburned fuel in the mix) you can keep the cel from coming on.

Should work the same way on the RL. Just need to know which o2s are downstream and what size nonfoulers would be needed. The other way around this is a custom tune of the ecu to keep the light off...but that seems an impossibility with our models...

I’ve dealt with this issue on my ISF and my solution there was a tune, even with defoulers. I personally didn’t do defoulers as the tune addressed my problem but I’ve seen people do both to address the issue. But again, different car.

It may be worth searching on the TL forums and see if it pops up there.
