J.D. Power Survey
J.D. Power Survey
I was sent the J.D. Power survey months ago relating to my 2007 RL purchase, filled it out and sent it back. They sent me 2 more mailings saying that they hadn't heard from me. I ignored them and then received a 4th mailing pleading with me to fill it out and send it back. I filled the darn thing out again! They guilted me into doing this because they would incude a $5 bill with the survey.
Wow, that's a money-making deal. Do you realize if they sent 200,000 of those surveys you'd have a million dollars?
Yeah, they can be irritating. I've gotten so many car surveys over the past few years I could paper a wall with them. Unfortunately, most of them didn't send any money along with the paperwork, and (don't tell anybody), but some of them went in the trash.

I have gotten these surveys as well in the past and yes there was money attached inside, but I think it was only $1. I have not gotten any in some time, I think since I switched from TL to RL, maybe even longer . . . . . my memory is failing me.
One of the funniest things about them is that you are obviously under no obligation to complete them - even if they contain a "bribe". But if you don't, some of these companies send you scolding follow-up letters that make you feel like you've skipped out on a debt or stole from the offering tray or something.
And many of these things aren't really connected with the car mfr. anyway. One tipoff is when they spend more time asking about what magazines you read, what your hobbies are and what you do in your spare time.
