I Smell Smoke!!
I Smell Smoke!!
I have a 05 and it's been really hot here the last few days. Well yesterday I started to get a little smoke like smell in my cabin and in the garage after about 45 minutes on the road. Since the smoke monster is officially dead, it can't possibly be that... Any ideas on what it could be?
I got the oil changed about 3 weeks ago and I do all service at the dealer. I'm not really a DIY person but I get things taken care of pretty regularly. BTW, it has about 130K and I'm up to date on service. I think it may be the radiator based on the smell and the non-stop AC. Thanks for any feedback!

Crazy question... what does the smoke smell like? Sorta like rubber burning? Or is it more of a sweet smell? Can you smell it in the engine bay?
You can rule out the radiator based on the temp gauge. My indicator is slightly below the temp graphics on the dial. If the car is not running hot, the radiator, water pump, thermostat, coolant, etc, are o.k.

I had the same experience on April.
the smell on my cabing was small rubber burning. I though it was the heather since temp out side were in 55F. After that It keeps going for another week, then the smell went away bi it self. I used to check the car temp but it was ok below midlevel when this happened. My O5 RL has 127K miles.

@Professor it more of a burnt rubber smell I guess. I check the timing belt and it looked fine.
@Chas2 When was the recall? I have had the car for about 8 months and haven't had any recall work done. I'll probably need to take it in to make sure that service was taken care of.

Location is in the Owner's Manual...on the firewall. There have been reports of dealers not necessarily following the stamp procedure. You should also check with Acura Client Services and report back to us on how good national the database is.
Problem solved! I called the dealer and gave him my VIN and he notified me that the power steering recall had been done last July. However, he wanted me to come in for a quick look. Come to find out the recall "fix" failed too. So they fixed it again at no cost and now I'm smoke free! By the way, the Acura Client Services database had my recall information entered correctly. Thanks everyone!!
