How long do you plan to keep you RL?
I had my RL with the same intent - 'til it dies, I will only then part with it...
however...
I have been test-driving different cars/SUVs, etc. over the period of good 3 years and decided to pull the plug and let RL go into good hands, while I got myself '18 RLX Sport Hybrid which are now discontinued. Nothing came close to RLX SH in terms of performance, lux, pricing, etc. that I can say "this is a worthy successor of my current car" ...
My RL was pretty set, with the exception of a couple of rust spots (near the windshield on a driver side, rear left and right qt panel, passenger door handle. It had 217k miles, T-Belt replaced around 100k then 200k, engine mounts replaced at 140-150k ... suspension replaced at about the same time along with front upper/lower control arms, and the rest of the bits and pieces... only springs I did not replace when all this was done...
BUT... knowing that electric cars won't come down in price any time soon... second, electric cars infrastructure of chargers is not that great... third, nothing else comes close to what I wanted out of my next car... RLX SH was the best pick and I got it...
2018 RLX SH Certified, 26k miles (now 29k), plan to get Acura Care warranty... it was leased by dealer sales guy's mom who is over 70 years of age, (proven and no joke on this) - so definitely a good deal to make a call like this

RLX could be a replacement if needed, but I only have 110k miles on my RL, so things are running great (fingers crossed) and I have no plans to replace it.
EVs are not on my radar, possibly a hybrid, but never a full EV. In a recent survey in AutoNews, nearly half of dealers don't want to sell new or used EVs and consumers are about the same in wanting to buy them. Why would anyone want to sit in their EV for 40 minutes on a vacation to only go from 20 to 80% charge, when I can fill my gas tank from 5 to100% in 5 min?
I was on the highway yesterday and saw a Tesla Model X cruising around 40MPH in a 65 zone (tho everyone goes 75-80) with it's flashers on...guess it was in super conservative mode to make it to the next charger

I'm in the process of sprucing up my girlfriend's '05 RL that has has 224k on it. We bought it 7 years ago, It's been sitting for 16 months (she stopped driving) and I haven't driven it for about ~5 years; it's back on the road this past week and I am reminded of how much I liked this car. Even with 3/4 tank of old gas, it still fires right up and purrs. After a fuel treatment, give it the beans and it growls nicely. It lives! It's going to be my son's 1st car after I slowly fix: chipped chrome, a ripped center console, get new tires, brakes/rotors, maybe wheel bearings, see why airbag light is on, etc.
I wish I had an old Corolla or Kia Soul or something more pedestrian to give him as a 1st car. He's a responsible kid but this is a lot of car. He is saving up 10-20k to buy a new car but I suspect he'll keep this one awhile. It's very likeable.
I suspect we'll have our RL a decent while longer.

I just hit 125k on mine. I originally purchased it in ‘11 from Acura of Manhattan with 22k on the Odom. Car has been great overall but the PA winters have not been kind so I have a good amount of rust. My door handle rusted so badly that a hole formed. I posted about it on here a while back. The body shop suggested just going out and finding a used one off a wrecked car, so that’s exactly what I did. I still need 2 more doors though! I would love to get another 75k+ out of the car.
-Had no idea the AFS light could be fixed by a $20 part from Amazon. Hoping to have that issue crossed off my list real soon.
-Driver’s door handle broke off years ago
-Car does need some suspension work
-I’ve got the infamous driveshaft howl/whine around 25-30 mph on an cold start
-Recently upgraded my HVAC module to the LED one after a few bulbs burned out. I wish I did it years ago and it’s so nice to have the physical mode button!
With that being said, not getting rid of the car anytime soon.
