How to clean this...

It's the door compartment where you can pull out. I went for my first oil change and TSBs applied, and the tech dirtied the compartment and I didn't realize till I get home. I already used leather cleaner but somehow it wouldn't come off. Any suggestions?

Similar; however, armorall is garbage and doesn't deserve to be put in your RL. 303 is a great product also - very respected.

I thought it was vinyl, but I don't really remember. RL is no longer with me.

Huh?

Are you talking about the map storage area on the door? If yes, it's vinyl.

Yes, I'm talking about the map storage on the door. Is it really vinyl? Pardon my ignorance. Any other idea what to use to clean beside vinylex? Thanks.

Hmmm...

Well, I just went out and looked at the damn thing...looks like vinyl, but it is softer than the other door components next to it, so I guess it COULD be leather, but I doubt it. (I looked in the Helms manual...thanks, Vik...but it doesn't mention the material that this part is made of)...my guess would be that, given the location and the fact that it gets alot of abuse from size 11's kicking it everyday, it is probably vinyl.

I agree with Vik...Armor All is crap...don't use it on your tires, either. You ever see what it does to a concrete driveway?

Yeah, I was surprised when you said it's vinyl, 'coz it feels softer than the vinyl dashboard.

Actually I don't know how bad armorall really is. I know people don't like it, but I'm not too sure why and what it'll do to the car if used.

I'll go out and look for vinyl cleaner and see if the dirt will come off. Thanks for the responses.

My RL's interior is light tan.

I've been using Griot's Interior Cleaner on that particular part...and I thought it was leather...but haven't really taken a close look at it.

The parts I'm having the most trouble with are the hard vinyl items on the door thresholds and fronts of the sats. FWIW, for scuff marks, I've seen recommendations for something called Goo Gone, but I can't find it. Passengers (me, included) and dealer personnel are causing scuffs on my door thresholds and the hard vinyl on the front of the seats...these are tough...the interior cleaner gets most of it, but even with a toothbrush, the worst still show a little, so I'm also looking for something a little more effective.

For general cleaning, I swear by the Honda Pro Cleaner and Polish. You can pick this up at the dealer. Have had good success on most surfaces (vinyl, seats, plastic, etc.) in my TL and now RL.

For the dash in either car...any place you'd consider putting Armor All, 303 is the best option. I've also put it on the plastic pieces on the floor of each door. These tend to get dirty with scuff marks and other crap when you get in and out of the car. I've found them extremely easy to keep clean with a periodic application of 303.

I've received customer survey from my dealer and I wrote the comment on how they dirtied my door. The service manager was aware and e-mailed me, saying that he'll detail my car at no charge.

What do you guys think of dealers' detail job? Can they be trusted? I just had my car polished and waxed 2 weeks ago by myself, now I don't know whether I should have them detail the car again.

Dealers usually do a crappy detailing job. I would say you would prefer that you have that amount of $ towards service and detail the car yourself.

Wow, that was a fast reply. Thanks.

What do you mean when you say crappy? Are they going to cause more scuffs? Problem is I already e-mail him back and I agreed with the offer. Oh well...

They usually don't do a good job in general. Remember, they are doing several a day. The detailer - a high school kid - doesn't really care about your car. They will put more swirl marks in the clearcoat than you already have.

I would just e-mail him again and ask if you can use it towards service because it was just detailed a week ago and you will spend the time to clean up their mess.

If it is leather.....

I use Lexol leather cleaner to clean all the leather and then the Lexol leather conditioner to keep it in good shape after that. It has usually worked to clean most stains off leather for me and I have used it on all the leather in my RL. Good luck.

Sorry, just looked, not leather -- plastic

If a stubborn grease stain, try Simple Green or PS3 Auto Wash with care, then clean off and shine it back up with Vinylex.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try simple green probably later on.

As for the complimentary detail, I think I'll just stick with it. I'll try my luck with them and see what happens, hopefully it'll turn out right. Thanks.

Don't do it! I wouldn't let them touch it! They will screw up the clear coat on your paint by using dirty rags or other methods that will put fine scratches all over the paint. I recommend Zaino to try to get rid of the scratches once you let them do it.

These are kids dealers hire to do this type of work and they do not care about your car. Again, don't do it, get some type of credit instead.
