Hood release problem

On my '06 Rl...Cannot get the under dash hood release to function. It moves, but it won't release. Any suggestions, other than seeing dealer?
Thanks

have you modded or changed anything before it happened.

No, just checked the oil over the week-end (at the 15% level)

Just a thought, I've seen the hoods with gas shocks (not particularly RLs) get hung up... have you tried letting someone pull the release while you gently lift the hood to see if its frozen or hung?

If that doesn't work you could dry spraying a penetrating oil with a straw, like WD40 or PB blaster, to help the latch.

Do you feel tension when you pull or is it completely loose? The handle is mechanical in that it is just a wire pulling a tab. If it is loose, your wire has become disconnected. If you can feel a resistance, then your latch is stuck like Heavy is talking about.

It's loose..in that there is no tension on the handle.
Is there access to the latch outside of the dash release?

I would still try to tug the hood.

If you cant help it pop, then the cable is likely not connected.

Take the under dash plastic off. You should be able to find the wire behind the latch. It likely hooks on to the handle. Unless it dis-attached from the other side. That would suck.

Try engaging VTEC. That seemed to fix tongr's brake light issue. I'm beginning to believe it is the cure all for the RL.

Solution turned out to be rather simple. Took it to a local mechanic and he
checked out the cable. Found out it was stretched about .250" and added a spacer. Works fine and cost $50.00.
