help before service

I am taking in my car for the updates next Wednesday. I am still having increasing creaking / cracking noises from the center console. From those of you with this problem, has your dealers come up with a fix that has lasted, or is there any info out on this?

Thanks for the input...wanted to check before my service visit.

Is the noise coming from where the center console stack (near the "Not an Ashtray" thing) meets the center console? If so, mine did the same thing. You can ask Acura to take a look at it, but you may end up with an entirely different squeak somewhere else.

I had initially stopped the squeaking/creaking with a piece of felt, but during our first service, I had asked Acura to make it stop. Well, to make a long story short, they tore the center console apart, and I believe they tried to bend the center console (they deny this). The console now does not sit level on one side compared to the other and though the first squeak is no longer present, theres a more annoying squeak/rattle coming from the rear of the console behind the armrest that I just cant seem to find and stop. I'll pull the console when the weather gets a bit better and see what they knocked loose.

Lesson - I'll be fixing my own squeaks and rattles from here on..

I took my RL in a few times for the center console creaking. Despite their best efforts, the guys at the dealer just kept moving the creak around to different spots on the center console. After the 3rd trip, they had put so much foam tape under the console, they said they couldn't fit any more. So, they finally ordered a replacement piece for the plastic rectangle that fits flat horizontally under the shifter and between the sides of the center console (mine is taupe, like the bulk of my interior). Apparently there was a fit issue, because replacing that piece (which the dealer at first called the "shift bezel" and later called the "shift plate") fixed the problem.

I've been creak-free for a couple months now (knock on wood). Good luck getting yours fixed, I know it's an annoying problem.

Curry7.......my problem sounds similar to yours. I am a little confused with your fix........did they replace the silver bezel around the shifter, or the whole taupe cover in the center around the shifer and heater controls?

That is where mine seems to be coming from.

Thanks.

Is the foam tape still there also?
