Heads up for FL residents on AcuraCare Extended Warranty Prices
For any FL residents considering AcuraCare extended warranty:
For some ridiculous reason, there is a law in Florida that if you reside in Florida you can only purchase an AcuraCare extended warranty from a Florida dealer AND all Florida dealers are required to sell them at the same HIGH price. I confirmed this with Acura by calling headquarters in CA. So there is no competition among dealers in FL and you cannot buy from a dealer outside Florida if you reside in Florida.
This is really unfair IMO. I have an 05 RL with 24,000 miles on it that I purchased last month from a private seller. I plan to drive it for many years and over 100K miles. The cost of the 5yr./84K AcuraCare warranty from all Florida dealers for 05 RL with 15-30K miles is the same - $2660! And that's only through today, 2/28. It may even go up March 1.
But if I was in GA or any other state, I could get it online from a dealer anywhere and most are offering in the $1400 range.
I'm tempted to just forget it and hope I don't have $2660 in repairs once I hit 50K and original warranty runs out.

I think the probabilities favor you not having a major repair exceeding $2000 in the 50K to 100K mileage bracket. You can hedge your bets by trading the car at 59K (the preferred max. mileage for Acura Certified cars <as I am led to believe>) and getting another 25K RL. I usually spreadsheet the costs (depreciation, gas, repairs, tires, taxes, etc.) to get a feel for best, worse and expected case costs.
