I'm on the search for best diag. hardware for the car. We all know how expensive genuine ones are... There is a lot of clones on ebay but which one is the best?

 

I'd be interested to know if they are safe to use. I remember reading one article where a user had all the lights in the car flashing on and off and everything was unusable. It was OK after cycling power and unplugging the fake HDS, but that scared me. To potentially fry or write something to the firmware that bricked something is not a risk I am willing to take.

 

I would NOT recommend getting any of those HDS systems from China. They are all fake. I bought one before and while it worked on some older Hondas, the newer ones would trigger all the lights to flash and freaked me out. Thank goodness a reset fixed it, but I will never ever use one of those again. Go all in for the real thing or just get a basic OBDII tool and don't try to get a cheap HDS that may fry your systems.
