Funky Side Effects After Fixing "Check Emission" Light

My friend with an 05 with about 75k miles on it now just had an interesting situation with warning lights on his car.

Started it up one day last week, drove about 5 miles and got the full Christmas tree of warning lights - VSA, AFS, Emissions, you name it. Turned around and went back to his driveway, shut the car off, waited a few minutes and started back up - same Christmas tree. Got a hold of the dealer (in another city about an hour away) and confirmed they could take the car the next morning. Let the car sit overnight, started it in the am and only the "check emission" light was on. Tried taking the gas cap off and back on, still had the light.

Got to the dealer (car drove fine but check emission light was on the entire way), they diagnosed "bad transmission range switch" which had to be ordered in. Car was finally fixed today, and interestingly now seems to be somehow cured of some annoying electrical glitches it has had for a few years that were never previously solved and the owner had previously decided just to put up with:
- the driver 2 fob continuously gave "remote battery low" warnings, even though the batteries tested fine, and even when batteries from driver 1 fob (that didn't indicate low battery) were moved to driver 2. Dealer previously ran tests on the fobs and indicated fob 2 was bad and would need to be replaced. Now since the transmission range switch has been done, fob 2 suddenly works fine.
- only the driver's window control on the driver's armrest panel window switches would light up at night with the headlights on. Now they all do.
- both backlights for the climate temp controls on the dash HVAC unit (driver's side and passenger's side) were burned out. Now the driver's side lights up.
- a few years ago, the auto power locks started making a noticeable "whining" sort of higher pitched noise when locking as you drove away. Now they sound normal, exactly like mine in my 06.

Sadly though, his Bluetooth HFL still refuses to pair with any phones (still craps out at the naming the phone step)
