Actually, I was thinking that too. There doesn't seem to be that much damage, some body work and the engine seems fine. The fusebox needs to be replaced also.

From the look of the damage, the bill is going to in the upward of $10000, and w/a salvage title, it is not worth the hassle.

especially with the shawd. who knows if it would have gotten damaged and with the warranty void due to the title, i cant imagine how much it would cost in the future replacing things as they start not to work. i went through this with my 03 tls w/ rebuilt title. had to pay out of pocket for my tranny replacement

Yes,
I saw that!
26k to me is a bit high.
Looks like a few interior pieces may have been scavanged.
The R/Rear door is misaligned, but moonroof looks ok. Probably only needs minor
chassis straightening, but between that & replacement parts, 26k is high!
15 to 17k tops is what I feel it is worth looking at the pics!

26k is too high for a car that sells new for 42. I know somebody who buys these damaged cars one or two a year, fixes them, drives them for a year then sells them. He wanted to buy my totaled TL, but could never find it. Too bad he couldn't find it - I kind of wanted to get my house keys out of the glove box

if it cost around 14K i would buy it...after i had the frame measured first to see if it was straight of course....other then that, it looks like some body damage, some interior trim, lol the acura emblem on the trunk and some other little things.....the airbags didn't even go off and the windshield isn't cracked...

those body parts must be expensive for the RL, i have seen cars in worse conditions that haven't been totalled....

Wow, RLs seem to be dropping fast lately. This shows how little it takes to total new cars, but the crumple zones and break-away parts are vital to occupant protection and that's what matters!

Although I read your post early in this thread about someone wanting to buy your TL, vp, but I can't imagine what it would take to straighten that mess out!

Yeah, you should check out the TL forum - the TLs are dropping fast over there.

As far as my TL - I think his idea was to get mine for about 4-5 grand and get another one with head on damage then just repairing the front end.

'Tis the season. With all the travel and shopping, there are more accidents and more totalled Acuras (and all other brands, too).

It is unfortunate. There is one thing that I see from the RLs that are in accidents - it is the safest car available on the market and hopefully everybody involved in accidents will survive without any injuries. to Honda safety engineering.

Any idea on parts availability? If someone plans on keeping one for a while and knows a good body shop or can do body work themselves, it might be worth it... but for profit it is a loss .

If it is sold for 10-15k I can see the work being done and then being able to sell it for a profit or a wash. You can get a cleared title on these cars if they are rebuilt. I know somebody who generally buys cars that have been totaled with under 10k miles on them - fixes them up, drives it for a year then sells it. The last one he did was an explorer - and after driving it a year sold it for a 9 thousand profit. Granted - he did most of the work himself in rebuilding it. The only time he had a body shop do work was for repainting - and has a paintless dent guy come out to get other little dents out of the body panels.

VP you need to come to the TL Forum under the "accident tragic loss" thread and explain to some people that you're not going to get hit at 50mph and barely have any damage. I've been trying to explain how little speed it takes to demolish cars but no one seems to get it. They think 40mph is a fender bender.

I have been kind of following that thread and decided to stay out of it. Do you have the link to my thread from my accident? You should post the link to page three of my thread and show them my TL. That was 45-50mph. Then let's see what they say.
