First Time Dealing with and Adjuster

An insurance adjuster is going to be at my house in a little over an hour. Are there any things I should know? Never dealt with one before. Do I want them to take note of every little detail? There is a tiny dent on my exhaust pipe (about the size of a dime) and it's pushed up about 1/8th to a 1/4 of an inch higher than the other from the result of my accident- should I be picky about that?

Check with your local and state laws as in California the insured can insist on OEM replacement parts instead after market junk........

If I remember correctly, you demand OEM parts on the car up to one year old in every state. Then, that's the point at which the laws change. Here in Texas, you can demand OEM parts up to the 4th year of ownership....after that, you must accept 3rd party parts.

Like others have said - demand OEM parts. Demand perfection and if they are not willing to guarantee the work tell them they can deal with your lawyer.

When a jackass slammed into my 2003 MDX I called my Acura dealership and asked them who they would use or recommend to repair my MDX. That way when it was repaired I drove it straight to my dealership and traded it. I told them don't screw me because I used the body shop YOU recommended as BEST. They couldn't fook with me on the trade. Cover your ass and good luck.....

Great thinking... I will keep that in mind if I get in an accident again (hopefully not, but accidents happen)

I also had over $9000.00 in damage. Acura had to replace the entire rear end parts (VTM, all the part that holds the rim etc....). So the car was at Acura getting all the OEM parts replaced and then they had to flat bed it next door to the body shop that did all the body work. Cover your A$$ when it comes to this. As I questioned the body shop.....So you guys not only do body work but your mechanics too ??????????????????????
I made DAMN sure I covered my ass thru this whole NIGHTMARE !

Btw: It looked great, but it wasn't the same (rattles in the cabin, brakes were weak on and on) so I drove it to Acura. Had them buy the car from me (Title wise) while we waited for new 05 identical to my beloved 2003 with only 11,000 precious garaged California miles. It would have turned one year old a week after the accident. The police and ambulance crew thought the MDX was brand new.........look out for those turds driving like ASSWIPES as you never know when it will happen. It was my first auto accident. I'm 45 years old...........

Yeah... I know what you mean. I got in my first two "accidents" within the last month. First was a hit-and-run (while I wasn't in the car) Pepsi driver, the second was someone who didn't slow down for an accident on the freeway, and rear-ended me. He got out of his car, saw my car had minor visible damage, said "Ok, so we're good?" and tried to get back in to his car to leave before I could even say anything. WTF is wrong with people???
