Noticed today my brake pedal is a little low and I want to work on the brakes.. but i'm not sure what to focus on..
My OEM Honda Pads are very meaty.. IMO Honda pads suck.. so i'm wondering what should I do.. keep the OEM pads and replace the brake lines to SS along with either Honda Dot 3 fluid or buy Amsoil Dot 4 and do a bleed OR replace my OEM Honda Pads to Yellow EBC and keep the OEM brake lines and bleed them the same way
did a search didn't really get what I was looking for but is there an order to bleed the brakes in? I didn't really plan on bleeding the rear brakes but I will if i have too.. how many pints of brake fluid do i need? Ill probably just buy Acura fluid dot 3 but its not my first choice
My goal is to get a better pedal bite with with increased stopping power
Stopping (traction) is a function of the tires!!!!!!!!!!!
to increase your stopping power, you'll need to upgrade them tires! what tires do you currently have on!?
a better initial bite would be pads!!
but the bite does nothing if you cant get traction!(tires)
SS lines would be the last upgrade i would do....

I have Michelin AS plus tires.. im used to brembo brakes .. ive decided to replace the brake lines from rubber to SS and than ill buy Acura Dot 3 brake fluid.. unless i can use Amsoil dot 4
Ill post a picture later of my pads and youll see they have ple ty of meat on them. I dont even think i need to replace the brake lines since im at 80k miles but it will benefit me over the rubber OEMs and im looking for better brake feel so i can stop better
Yeah but the brake lines have 80,000 miles on them.. arent they still not as good when compared to SS?
Its either replace my OEM Honda pads that have 75% life on them and swapping them too EBC yellow because i dont like Honda pads and keeping the OEM rubber brake line and flushing to Amsoil dot 4
OR
Keeping my OEM honda pads and replacing the rubber brake lines to SS and still flushing them to Dot 4 Amsoil
Although i could just keep my oem pads and oem brake lines and just blled the brakes but i want to upgrade something

90 bucks front and rear
I would replace the pads and possibly the rotors. The OEM pads are overpriced for mediocre performance. Pick up some ceramic pads from a local shop, and that should help.
in my Buick I had before I had Brembo track pads and 14" rotors the Acura wont compare but I want better bite when I hit the brake pedal, in my Regal I actually replaced the brake lines didnt notice anything but that was a brand new car with big brakes.
ive always said Honda OEM pads suck but idk what I should buy.. I want to upgrade pads and SS but im on a budget so its one or the other, im gonna bleed the brakes for either scenario but im leaning toward SS lines
im not understanding, mayor....
its clear that you want better bite and can only afford either or, not both...
maintenance over mods any day!
get pads, fool.
SS lines are a modification...something you said you cant afford!!
This thread actually helped me decide, ill be buying EBC Reds.. I was going to get Yellow EBC but if this was my Buick id go Yellow.. but Red EBC is what im looking for
So Honda DOT 3 brake fluid is good.. since ill bleed my brakes.. how many pints of OEM Honda Brake Fluid will I need? (2?)
Ended up buying EBC red pads, just the front and bought Ate dot 4 brake fluid.
Would have gone yellow but i dont want the dust and enough reviews praise red
Last time brake fluid was changed was 2011 according to car fax, brake pads were replaced only 20 thousand miles ago along with resurfaced rotors.. rear pads i dont think were ever replaced (according to carfax) so when i swap pads ill have a look at the rears
I got around today to installing my EBC red pads.. i only did the front but what an improvement.. my Oem honda pads are nearly new but they suck.
Diy is a breeze took me 45 min to do the pair
Impressions: initial bite is improved, heavy braking is great but i think the rear pads cant keep up because abs kicks in but stopping power is vastly improved over OEM
Debating on rotors but i think rear pads are better
Rear pad options are limited im looking at getting some EBC red for the rear for a pilot or odysey i foget and tacking on some metal on the ears for them to sit in the rear carriers or gonna try the power stop Z23 #Z231090 rear pads.
